Case Closed!

Our Case has been Closed! We have figured out who the culprit is of who stole the chocolates in Whetu. We thought it was Mrs Taaffe because we had a lot of evidence!

She had the right shoe size, cut on her right-hand wrist which could have been because of the door, had used an HDMI cord regularly, she likes mini chocolates, her scrunchie and she had a lot of fingerprints on the scene.

Mrs Taaffe had come in and we had told her about how we knew she had come in and stolen the chocolates and had left and HDMI cord. She had confessed and said sorry she also said she will bring in a bag of chocolates to replace the ones she ate.

Wanted Mugshot.

This is my Wanted poster/Mugshot. We had to try sketch the other side of our face on a piece of paper. I really liked how mine turned out especially the mouth and eyes and all those type of features. This is my Wanted Mugshot.

NPS Athletics Reflection 2020

Yesterday was our school athletics day and I competed in High Jump, Shotput, Long Jump, 100m Race and 200m Race.

First, we did Long Jump, Running 100m, Shotput, High Jump and there are the finals between some.

The Events I found challenging or scary were the races because racing is not my thing and I am not that good at it.

The Event I found most enjoyable/fun was the High Jump because High Jump is something that I started last year so I don't do it as much.

I reckon I used: Resilience because of the races we went to, Connecting by hanging out with more people in my age group and Courage because I was stepping out of my comfort zone and being brave.

I also did relays for Patiki. I was the third runner, we didn't win but we had loads of fun!

Fantastic Fingerprints!

Yesterday Fred the Moth had done their fingerprints! The reason why is because we are still trying to solve the mystery about the crime that had happened in Whetu. We had to gather ink, learn how to roll the fingers, and a piece of paper to identify which type of fingerprint it was. There are Loops, Whorls and Arches. There is also one called a Double Loop. For our Fantastic Fingerprints, we had to do all 10 fingers to see and identify which type of pattern it was. These are the results I came out with!

Whetu Crime Case 2020

This term we are doing Crime Investagation about who had broken in and stole some chocolates! At first, we got a video from Detective Dun asking us if we could crack the case! He had told us three things to make sure to do: Freeze, Control and Preserve. Yesterday we looked at the crime scene and observed what clues and what things they had done. Today we tried to figure out some clues and evidence that could be helpful for this Crime. Mrs Heaven has taken photos of the evidence so we could have a closer look at it. We have found: A broken Vase, blood, coffee mug, blood on a tissue, liquid on a tissue, milky way bars, footprints, an NPS Pen, a Licence and more.

Here are some photos/evidence.

The Mystery of the Missing Moji!

Today me and Tayla did the Missing Moji challenge together! It was really fun and we enjoyed it. We found out that it was the ANGEL!! The Angel has gone missing! My Favourite part was the first one because me and Tayla got confused at first but learnt what it was!

The Mystery of the Astronaut!

For this literacy investagation, I worked with Madeleine and we figured out it was... HUGO! We figured out the clues and led to him. It was tricky and challenging but we got there! I learnt how to a split diograph.

Epsom Salt Crystals...

For our science with crystals, we did Epsom crystals although I got a bunch of drops in it and it turned out like a blob I tried to fix it but it turned out not very good. l tried making Christmas tree then I thought that it would be better if I tried to get crystals all on my paper!

Borax Crystals

For our Opt-in workshops, I chose to do Science about Crystals. We had some hot water (not sure how much) 2 tablespoons of Borax and Food dye which is optional. At first, we created our swirl that helped form the crystal with a pipe cleaner, then we wrapped string around both the pipe cleaner and ice block stick because the pipe cleaner could not touch the sides or bottom. But don't stir it too long there should be a tiny bit left at the bottom before putting the pipe cleaner in. Our group decided on Green. We waited over  night and they have grew a bit but need longer to grow bigger.

Inquiry. 'So what'

This is my inquiry using the question: " Should animals be kept in zoos". My opinion is that it looks great and is a supernova! I was not here for two sessions and did not get most of it done at first. I have done and I think that it looks really good! I tried to make it pop as much as I could because I wanted people to notice it. One of my favourite parts are the fonts  I have used. I reckon my Inquiry is an 8/10.

Cooking Comment!!

This week I chose to join the cooking workshop option.

On the first day, we planned and went over cooking safety rules. We had planned what vegetables we would have in it and saw what people could bring.

The second day we brang all the ingredients and chopped and sliced them. Also, Madeleine had a HUGE CARROT! Which made the soup very fulling.

The Third day we cooked it and then we ate it! It was really yum! In my soup, I had a bunch of vegetables at the bottom. It was really good and I thank you for letting us cook!

The part I liked most was eating it because it was delicious and was very fun to make. Another part I liked was planning and going over the safety rules because it was like spot the object.

Literacy Investigation!

I have done my Literacy Investigation and because I can't print it I thought I would put it on my Blog! This is My literacy investigation from last week and this week!

My Letter of the Week!

I have done my letter of the week this week! I liked the letter A because it was challenging since it was a vowel. Even though I am at home today I really wanted to make sure I would come back and not be behind on literacy. This is my Letter of the Week!

Cross Country Reflection

Cross Country Reflection 2020

This year I participated in the NPS Cross Country held at school on the Ngatea Domain. I ran in the 10 yrs age group.

I am most proud of completing the race because I ran jogged and sometimes walked. I came 15th or around that I tried and tried but I could not push myself so much that I would be sick. I am not that proud of coming that because I tried my hardest but that’s what’s important!

I think my effort towards our training at school was not the best because I thought we were doing it out as south farms but we were not. So I think that I should have pushed myself more and done more training then I would have done better.

I showed the Learning Power of Resilience by Pushing myself as hard as I could by running the hardest I could but paced myself well. I tried my hardest and supported others. I don’t really enjoy it but I tried! I also would have liked it better if it was south farms but life is life!

Whetu Challenge/Simpsons!

Whetu Challenge

Today for our Whetu Challenge we have done Cartoon Creations! We did it in our Constellation groups. Me and the Winegums have done the Simpsons! It was very Very VERY Challenging!!

I did Marge and let me tell you that her hair was the worst part, it was so hard to get every curve right you don't even know! I zoomed in but it kept making a line. So I made it straight I did as best as I could. But the easiest part was the dress it was the first thing I got finished.  It was so hard because of the lines how they would just stop it ruined my whole creation, to be honest!

We tried to make it as realistic as we could and the colours like the cartoon. We really liked doing it and we loved how it turned out. We all got our character finished and so that made it even better!

The people that made this creation: Me, Madeleine, Teana, Ashley, Olivia and Katelyn though Tayla was not here today. But she Emailed Mrs Loft saying which character she should do from home unfortunately she did not get to finish because she began to feel sick and she had to stop.

This is our creation!

Mia's Egg Drop Challenge!

This is our Whetu Challenge for this week.

I had done it with two people I have not done with before, I did it with Amy and Jessica. I liked working with them because they liked my ideas and they were not scared to share theirs.
One of the hardest parts was probably when we had to plan what we were doing there were so many ideas and cool ways to present them tho we did not have the type of supplies we needed and that's why it was a challenge. Also, it was really annoying because the wind was destroying our creation!!!
The easy part was putting on the sellotape and blowing up the balloons, well because it's really simple and easy.
My favourite part was seeing the egg drop and seeing peoples reactions and how they all said Ooooo. I loved making this creation and I liked how our group did. We thought that even tho it did not survive it was really good and we had some new ideas on how to improve next time!
For our creation supplies, we had: Three straws,
wool, scissors, sellotape, a sock, newspaper, 2x balloons and a paper bag.
I actually did not realize how much supplies we had!!

My Discovery (On slides)

This is my discovery about endangered animals. I love animals and want them to be healthy and treated just like us. I really wanted to know more about them and why they are endangered. The message in my discovery is that we need to try and save more animals from going extinct. There are only 60 more Amur leopards in the wild! That's why I have made these slides.

My Reflection

My Term 2, 2020 Reflection

The new learning activity that I have enjoyed the most this term is our workshops because it’s a good way for me to take a break from my learning and have a bit of fun. I also like it because my friends can also join in but at the same time, we can be silent and work independently.

Something that has challenged me this term has been Number of the day. It challenges me because we have not done it before and I don’t really know roman numerals and the fractions that’s why it challenges me because of the things I struggled with but I am getting better at it.

The Whetu Challenge I enjoyed the most was the Egg carton challenge because I did not get a chance to do it over the lockdown and I missed out. So I liked doing this one because I had lots of egg cartons at home, I also liked it because we could create something that could be chucked out to something fun and creative.

The opt-in workshop I enjoyed the most was bean growing because I love planting and growing plants. I also liked art because I have never done that type of art. That type of art was cool because there were different kinds of patterns and flowers you could do.

An aim I have for my learning is to get my essay to 500 words or more. I want to be able to get most things done by the end of the term. I don’t really care what it is, I just want to achieve something good or amazing like a supernova. That’s why I try to put so much on my blog with an amazing description, I like it that way.

Math's Mystery with Xanthe.

Me and Xanthe have finished our Math's Mystery/Codes. I found that this is one of my most challenging Math's Mystery I have done so far. I think it is because I have never done this kind of maths mystery before and that it is new to me. Me and Xanthe were very confused at the beginning but we found out how to do it and we got to the finish! This is our Math's Mystery.

EGG CARTON CREATIONNNN!!!

EGG CARTON CREATION

This week for our Whetu Challenge we created something using egg cartons.

I used these types of materials: Wool, Eight Googly eyes, One Pom pom, Blue paper, Sand and most importantly the egg carton.

If I could do anything differently I would make the bottom part still stuck together so I could put the sand at the bottom part of the Aquarium/Moana. So the sand did not come off at the bottom.

If I rated it out of 20 I would put a 19 and a Half! Because it was so fun and it was my favourite Whetu Challenge! I loved creating something that could have been thrown away.

I planned it out well and I think that it is very good and I am proud of what I made. I was going to put a treasure chest at the bottom but I had no time.

My Blog Challenge

This is my blog challenge! I could not get my bitmoji on but I have done the classroom and I wanted to do both. So I did both. I decided to make them as realistic as possible though the room did not look like exactly like mine. So these are my two Blog Posts!

Sooooo I made it into an interesting story about a boy who gets bullied at school. A monster comes out and talks about it with him. This is my read, predict and write! You will need to read it to understand the prediction.

Whetu Paper Planes Challenge

Whetu Challenge - Paper Planes

Today our challenge was to design an accurate paper plane. We were given a draft piece of paper to trial and a good piece to use once we had tested the accuracy of it.

Before we started I thought this challenge was going to be really challenging but mostly fun because I love paper planes cause there easy to work with. I thought it would be challenging because I did not really have experience with them.

I decided to use the design simple but with more folded paper. Then I had as my colouring design my name in bold and rainbow dripping down each side.

The hardest part was trying to decide which paper plane design to use. Because I did not want mine to flop.

During our competition time I managed to score I dont think I scored much or anything. I think my paper plane needed to go more slower and needed to be heavier.

 (I look kinda creepy...)

Word Of The Week!!!

The word of the week was.... LUMINOUS! It means Bright light or Really Colourful and more. I quite liked this word of the week as I have not done it before... Me and Teana kinda worked on it together like we helped each other find out pictures and the meaning of Luminous.
